Hi! I’m Josephine Ortega, a senior music education major.

Yay for getting a new headshot soon!

This website is the culmination of my senior honors project at Gonzaga University. The goal is to provide choir educators with practical tools for exploring music from around the world including:

  • Culturally Responsive Teaching Resources
  • Background Information on musical traditions
  • Repertoire recommendations
  • Classroom activies and lessons plans
  • Guidance for teaching music respectfully and authentically

Rather than simply offering songs to perform this project encourages teachers and students to engage with the history, culture, and people behind the music. I believe choral music has the power to build community, foster empathy, and help every student feel seen and valued. I hope these resources make it easier for teachers to create meaningful musical experiences that celebrate diverse voices

Thank you for visiting, and happy singing!

-Joey 🙂
